During that time, Professional Photographers of America carried the brand "The World's Greatest Storytellers" I took that seriously. It shaped everything I did, and it shapes everything I write.
That career led me to become President and Chairman of the Board of the world's largest association of professional photographers — an organization with more than 35,000 members across more than 50 countries. I traveled extensively, photographed in places most people only dream of visiting, and came away with something I didn't expect: a deep conviction that the most important stories are the human ones, and that the best way to preserve them is through craft.
The camera taught me to see. The lyric taught me to say it. Both ask the same question: what is the truest thing happening in this moment, and how do I make sure it isn't lost?
